Projects & Case Studies

CASE STUDY 1:
Remote Coastal Infrastructure Upgrades – East Gippsland, Victoria
Project Overview
Upgrades to camping facilities, coastal cabins, and administration office infrastructure within a remote and environmentally sensitive coastal region. The works were delivered under three concurrent Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs) as part of a coordinated, program‑wide approach.
Recognised as one of the most complex CHMP‑regulated projects of its type, the program required careful integration of statutory compliance, remote access constraints, and diverse stakeholder interests. A structured and proactive compliance framework supported approvals, informed risk management, and enabled confident decision‑making, contributing to a robust outcome that met regulatory requirements and sponsor expectations.
Outcome
Full statutory compliance was achieved across all CHMPs, supporting timely delivery and informed decision‑making within a highly sensitive and culturally significant coastal environment.

CASE STUDY 2:
Large‑Scale Residential Development – South‑East Melbourne
Challenge
Cultural heritage services were provided for a major greenfield housing development within Melbourne’s south‑east growth corridor. The vast scale of the site and the complexity of heritage considerations required a carefully planned and proportionate approach.
The project required balancing statutory compliance with development feasibility while aligning the interests of multiple stakeholders, including regulators, Traditional Owner representatives, and the developer. A structured, stakeholder‑focused approach was implemented to manage risk, guide decision‑making, and support delivery certainty.
Outcome
Strong stakeholder alignment enabled a balanced fieldwork and archaeological salvage program, delivering confidence around cost, programme, and compliance. The project achieved positive outcomes for all parties and supported the successful delivery of a large‑scale residential development.

CASE STUDY 3:
Large and Sensitive Cultural Heritage Assessment – Murray Floodplain Region
Challenge
Cultural heritage services were provided for a large‑scale and culturally sensitive assessment across the Murray Floodplain region, undertaken on behalf of the Registered Aboriginal Party. The project involved multiple surveys in flood‑impacted areas of high cultural sensitivity, requiring a carefully planned and adaptive approach.
The project required balancing cultural heritage protection with complex environmental conditions while coordinating closely with multiple stakeholders. A structured, collaborative approach was implemented, combining RAP‑led fieldwork with advanced GIS capability, efficient survey design, and high‑volume VAHR data processing to support clear and timely remediation outcomes.
Outcome
Strong stakeholder alignment enabled a robust assessment, delivering accurate heritage records, certainty around timeframes, and efficient use of resources. Trusted RAP partnerships and technical capability supported confident outcomes across a culturally sensitive floodplain landscape.
